Southern County Tour

Tunnel on Petty Branch Road

Veto Boat Landing in Prospect
Southern County Tour-- 6-8 hours--Visit the site in Minor Hill where Sam Davis was captured or walk the swinging cable bridge on the shady creek banks of Mount Zion Historical Methodist Church. After a peaceful lunch next to the rippling water, you can go wading in the creek and just enjoy "days of old" when we used to go swimming in the creek. Then travel further north to the old Shores School and Shores Mill Waterfall (a breathtaking site, excellent for photos). This tour will take backroads over beautiful farmland. A visit to Prospect's American Home Entertainment Museum will take you back to the past, a visit of today and a little of the future. The Entertainment Museum displays a collection of home entertainment items ranging from pump reed organs and pedal player pianos dating 1850 to 2000. Ask the owner about his friend "the ghosts" that appear on occasion! Enjoy your tasty treats while listening to the music of "The Beast". This is not your standard 1920's era player piano, but a "band". Spend the afternoon in a Silent (or Not-So Silent) Theater in the Entertainment Museum accompanied by a state-of-the-art modern electronic player piano-old films or new films-Laurel & Hardy, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin films or a performance by RiverDance. You tell us what you would like to see and we will try to accommodate. You can even bring a boat or canoe and set off up or down the Elk River at the only boat ramp, Veto Landing, in Giles County.
