White Oak Bowls

Only 3 left in house!

The largest White Oak Tree in Tennessee grew at the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Giles County. It had a circumference of over twenty-two feet. It was truly one of God's treasures. A wind storm on July 20, 2000 blew this tree down, which had stood for an estimated three hundred years. The Giles County Tourism Foundation commissioned Mike Tomerlin, a local craftsman, to make bowls fromthe wood of this historical tree. There are approximately 30 bowls left of the 100. There are a variety of shapes and sizes in the Tourism office. All have certificates that accompany the bowls.
