The Nashville Ballet will return to Pulaski on Wednesday, March 17th, when they perform the children’s ballet “The Singing Tortoise” for school children throughout the community.
Two morning performances are planned for 10am and 11am in Martin Hall Auditorium on the MMC campus and are already filled to capacity with Giles County public school students in grades K-5.
A third performance, scheduled for 12:15pm, will include additional Giles County public school students and students from preschool facilities in the area. Home-schooled students, preschool students their parents who wish to attend this third performance are invited to pick up free tickets at Colonial Hall at Martin Methodist College before March 17th.
The Giles County Public Library and Martin Methodist College have received a touring arts grant from The Tennessee Arts Commission for “The Singing Tortoise,” which is based on a West African folktale of the same name. This project is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. The students and faculty of Martin Methodist College have matched the grant funds as part of their generous outreach to the community. This is the third year that the library and the college have partnered in bringing the Nashville Ballet touring company to Martin Methodist College.
